Newburgh Plein Air Paint out puts artists on location

 

If you see some artists in and around downtown Newburgh on May 17 and 18, it’s the Newburgh Plein Air Paint Out.

Riverwind Gallery is hosting the event at which artists will be painting on location in and around the area.  Some artists will be selling their artwork as they paint it. 

The participating artists will have a sign on their easel indicating they are participants in the Paint Out.

Council on Aging to benefit from Watercolor Dreams

Council on Aging to benefit from Watercolor Dreams

 

The Warrick County Council on Aging (WCCOA) is producing the World Premiere of "Watercolor Dreams," a comedy/drama in two acts suitable for the entire family.  Performances are scheduled for Saturday, May 4th @ 7pm and Sunday, May 5 at 3pm in the Castle High School Auditorium.

The play includes actors from the tri-state area and is being directed by Weston Whitehouse, a veteran of the stage throughout Southern Indiana.  The playwright, Michael Diton-Edwards, is a local resident and is thrilled that his work will be benefitting such a fine cause as that of WCCOA.

New train exhibit in Newburgh

New train exhibit in Newburgh

The new exhibit at the Newburgh Museum features a re-creation of the interior of the Evansville and Ohio Valley Traction Deput.

The museum just opened last summer.

There is also an exhibit for the community's Bicentennial.

The musuem is open on Saturdays from 11 to 3 and beginning in March will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 to 3.

Tours are also available by appointment. Call 812-853-5045.

The museum, located at Preservation Hall is also always on the lookout for interesting historical Newburgh items.

Warrick County Council on Aging casting call for theatre production

The Warrick County Council on Aging is producing a play as a fundraiser in April 2013 at Castle High School, and an open casting call has been made in search of actors and technical support.

Calling all artist!

The Artist Salon meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm.

That means tomorrow, December 4th.

"The vision for the salon is to nurture friendships, provide an environment that encourages stimulating conversation about art and life, and offer an opportunity for creative individuals to network within the artist community." -Historic Newburgh

All types of artists are welcome for the rather informal gathering.

If you are a local artist you can bring samples to share! Or share any other articles or topics of discussion.

Art Collective grand opening

Art Collective grand opening

There will be a grand opening and open house for The Art Collective at Jennings Station and the new Pulmonary Fibrosis Partners headquarters on Wednesday, December 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

You can view the work of local artisans and purchase some unique holiday gifts.  A portion of all sales will benefit Pulmonary Fibrosis Partners.

There will be music, hors D'oeuvres, and a no-host bar with wine and beer.

A suggested donation of $10 is appreciated.

Day of music, fun to honor 3-year-old who lost life to cancer

Isaac’s Day of Music will be a family fun day in memory of Isaac Miller, a three-year-old who lost his battle with B-cell lymphoma in November of 2010.  The event takes place Sunday, November 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 pm.  at First Christian Church in Newburgh. 

There will be music activities and crafts for children, food and an exciting silent auction.  There is also an online auction that is currently underway and runs through 6 p.m. Thursday November 1.   Bids can be placed at www.bluetreemarketing.com/isaac.
