Unemployment in Warrick County at 7.2%

Unemployment in Warrick County at 7.2%

Warrick County's unemployment rate was 7.2% in March.

Statistics released by Indiana Workforce Development show the county's jobless rate remains among the six lowest in the state, however.

Perry Countywas  at 8.3% while Spencer County has a rate of 8.2%.   Vanderburgh and Pike Counties also had rates of over 8% but nearby Dubois County had the lowest jobless rate in Indiana at 6.3%.

Overall, Indiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged in March at 8.7 percent, halting a recent upward trend. The Hoosier State, which has more manufacturing jobs as a part of our private sector than any other state in the U.S. (19.7 percent of Indiana’s private sector), experienced another month of increase in manufacturing jobs, production hours and durable goods production employment. All of which may point to sustained growth and future expansion potential.

A solar electric system installation done for a Newburgh resident was selected as a finalist in SunPower’s “2012 Intelegant Award for Excellence” program. This is the first time that a SunPower install in Indiana has been considered a finalist for the award.

Solar Energy Solutions of Newburgh says their customer was convinced to put solar on his home when buying a Nissan Leaf electric car. In 2011, Nissan and SunPower announced a collaboration that would help Leaf owners learn how a residential solar power system from SunPower can reduce their carbon emissions and control the cost of charging their electric vehicles.
