Get ready for 20th Annual Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks | Community Spirit
It's just about time for a 20-year Halloween tradition in Warrick County: the Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks.
This year's walks are happening on Friday, October 18th, Saturday, October 19th, and Sunday, October 20th.
The walks are organized by Historic Newburgh, Inc. and sponsored by People's Trust and Savings Bank and Titzer Family Funeral Home.
If you're interested in attending, you can choose from two different haunted tours, one on Water Street and one on State Street.
"On the Water Street tour, attendees will learn of river lore, family legends, mystery, and the sinking of the Steam ship Missouri! The State Street tour focuses on Newburgh history, Civil War tales, thrills, and thing that go bump in the night! Both tours offer their share of historical murder, mayhem, and mysteries," according to the Historic Newburgh website.
Each guided walking tour lasts about an hour, with tours departing from Preservation Hall (200 State Street) every 15 minutes. (Remember comfy shoes!)
As an added (spooky) bonus, the Rivertown Storytellers will be telling scary stories at the end of tours Saturday night. They'll be at Town Council Chambers. Listening to 15 minutes of their stories costs $2.00. This event is not recommended for those under 11 years old.
If you're interested in buying tickets to the Ghost Walks, call Historic Newburgh, Inc. at (812) 853-2815. They're $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-12 through October 17th. After that, prices will increase by one dollar.
