Veterans and families recognized at event 'Freedom Isn't Free'

A half-day event called Freedom Isn’t Free will be held Saturday, November 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as a tribute to all veterans and their families.

The event is going to be held at Crossroads Christian Church and includes a Veterans’ Job Fair with place like Old National Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Humana, Shoe Carnival, Toyota Boshoku Indiana, WorkOne and more attending. There will be Veterans’ Educational Benefits Workshops with some local schools like University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana, IVY Tech and ITT Technical College.

A Veterans’ Administration Mobile Vet Center will be there to answer and help veterans with their benefits and claims.

The event also includes special recognition for all Veterans, keynote speaker and noted veteran author Chuck Dean, and patriotic choral music. Honored guests will also include Major General R. Martin Umbarger and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke with presentation of colors by Henderson County High School JROTC.
