Area churches plan fish fries | Events

Lent is right around the corner.  If you're ready for a fish fry, courtesy of the Evansville Catholic Diocese, here's a list of where and when they're happening in the Newburgh Deanery.

St. Clement, Boonville, every Friday during Lent, Feb. 15-March 22, 4:30-7 p.m., St. Clement Social Hall, Boonville; serving two pieces baked or fried fish, roll, slaw, drink, dessert and choice of two sides (macaroni and cheese, baked beans, green beans, potato salad); $9/adults, $4.50/children under age 10; $1.50/extra piece of fish, can substitute cheese pizza for fish; carry out available; sponsored by the St. Clement Knights of Columbus.

Mary, Help of Christians, Mariah Hill, Feb. 15, 4-7 p.m.; serving fried fish, baked potato, green beans, roll, peaches, beverage; $8/person; sponsored by the Catholic Community of North Spencer Mission Group.

St. John the Baptist, Newburgh, every Friday during Lent, Feb. 15-March 22, 5-7:30 p.m., fried, grilled or baked fish dinner $9/person, $4.50/children 10 and under; all you can eat dinners served with numerous sides that vary each week (macaroni and cheese, baked potatoes, American or German potato salad, baked or green beans, sweet or sour slaw, corn on the cob, cornbread, pasta salad) dessert, beverage; carry out available.

St. Joseph, Dale, Feb. 22, 4-7 p.m.; serving fish, green beans, mac-n-cheese, roll, peaches, beverage; kids’ menu includes peanut butter and jelly sandwich or fish sandwich, chips, applesauce; $8/person; carry out and drive thru available.

St. John the Baptist, Newburgh, Feb. 22, 5-7:30 p.m.

St. Nicholas, Santa Claus, March 1, 4-7 p.m., St. Nicholas Church lower level; serving grilled salmon, baked potato, slaw, roll, beverage, $10/plate; kids meal includes peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, beverage, $2/child; carry out available.

Mary, Help of Christians, Mariah Hill, March 8, 6 p.m., potluck dinner; bring a meat-free dish to share; no charge.
