Post traumatic stress disorder: A free lunch & learn | Events
War veterans are not the only ones who may experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, many people who go through traumatic events have difficulty adjusting and coping for a short period of time. However, if flashbacks, sleep disturbances, and frightening thoughts last for more than a couple of months, you may be suffering from PTSD.
The Ohio Township Central Library and H.E.L.P. (Healthcare Education Learning Partners) are collaborating for a Lunch & Learn program to help explain the symptoms and treatments for PTSD. This free lunch and informational session takes place on Wednesday, April 10 at 12:00 p.m. in the Diamond Room at the Ohio Township Central Library in Newburgh.
Marla Minton, a social worker and therapist at View Pointe Counseling in Evansville, will be the speaker. She will discuss the following topics: what is PTSD, its symptoms, other forms of PTSD such as mass trauma and cultural trauma, and treatments (including unconventional therapy).
