Job fair, information to assist veterans in Newburgh Saturday

A community celebration for Veterans and their families is taking place Saturday in Newburgh.  Here's the info from the organizer:

Newburgh is looking for residents who want to help turn the community into the way things looked in the Victorian Era.

If you would like to dress in 1800's clothing and be a part of the community’s holiday celebration, just come to a meeting on Monday, Nov. 5 at the Tin Fish Restaurant beginning at 6 p.m.

Church seeing twice as many people in need

St. Clement's Church in Boonville is seeing twice as many visitors to their soup kitchen.

Deacon Thomas Lambert says perhaps a sign of tough economic times, "I trust people need to come because of companionship or need, or because of the economy and not finding work, or because they are on a fixed income and need to stretch their dollars."

The church located on 422 East Sycamore Street holds a soup kitchen every Thursday night and serves a complete meal, like chicken, dressing, vegetables and dessert.  Anyone is welcome, no questions asked.

Friendship Chapter # 32 Order of the Eastern Star is having a Christmas Shopping Day Saturday, November 3 at the Masonic Lodge 720 Filmore St., Newburgh.  Shopping starts at 3:00 p.m. and goes until 7:00 p.m.

Eight vendors will be set up including 31,Scentsy Candles, Tastefully Simple, Tupperware, Longaberger  Baskets, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, and Avon.

Come in shop and have something sweet to eat while you shop.

Day of music, fun to honor 3-year-old who lost life to cancer

Isaac’s Day of Music will be a family fun day in memory of Isaac Miller, a three-year-old who lost his battle with B-cell lymphoma in November of 2010.  The event takes place Sunday, November 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 pm.  at First Christian Church in Newburgh. 

There will be music activities and crafts for children, food and an exciting silent auction.  There is also an online auction that is currently underway and runs through 6 p.m. Thursday November 1.   Bids can be placed at www.bluetreemarketing.com/isaac.

Newburgh Master Park Plan revealed

Newburgh Master Park Plan revealed

This Thursday, November 1, the public will get to see a draft of the Newburgh's Master Park Plan.

This summer residents were surveyed on their input and some of that information will be made public this Thursday.

The public meeting will be held at Town Hall, 23 W. Jennings Street, November 1 at 6 p.m., and will include a presentation and an opportunity for comment.

Halloween party Sunday at local stable

Meadowbriar Stables will be holding a Halloween party at the horse barn this Sunday from 1-3 p.m.

At least ten horses will all be in costume at 1pm for a parade.   The event was a big hit when it debuted in 2011.

“This year’s costumes promise to be bigger and better than last year,” says  owner Kim Gundry.

Meadowbriar is located at 5166 Brumley Road in Newburgh.
