The Historic Newburgh, Inc. Farmer’s market is more than fruits and vegetables.  Organizers are inviting local artists to create, showcase and sell their works.

Along with the traditional food fare, the market will feature art work from local artists and many weekends will have music that rings out over the Ohio River.

There will be Home Based Vendors, who are bread and cookie bakers, and of course we'll have farmers.  You will have an opportunity to buy grass fed beef, lamb, and free range chickens and eggs.

What to do if you find an injured or baby animal

What to do if you find an injured or baby animal

Every spring, kind-hearted Hoosiers “rescue” an injured or seemingly abandoned baby wild animal and try to care for it.

The DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife has one thing to say: Don’t do it.

“Most baby animals are not abandoned,” said Michelle Cain, wildlife information specialist with the division. “Many animals leave their young alone when searching for food and come back to them throughout the day. They also use this as a way to deter predators, as a predator may follow the mother back to its young.”

Some time next week, Shoe Carnival will help Habitat for Humanity put some finishing touches on a housing project that began in mid-December. Over 70 Shoe Carnival employees at the corporate office have spent six hours a day for three days lending a helping hand to this Habitat for Humanity project. This project is an attempt to help provide affordable housing in Warrick County.

Newburgh solar installation nominated as finalist for award

A solar electric system installation done for a Newburgh resident was selected as a finalist in SunPower’s “2012 Intelegant Award for Excellence” program. This is the first time that a SunPower install in Indiana has been considered a finalist for the award.

Solar Energy Solutions of Newburgh says their customer was convinced to put solar on his home when buying a Nissan Leaf electric car. In 2011, Nissan and SunPower announced a collaboration that would help Leaf owners learn how a residential solar power system from SunPower can reduce their carbon emissions and control the cost of charging their electric vehicles.
