Senior Trooper Ryan Wilson was selected as “Evansville District Trooper of the Year” for 2011. Superintendant Paul Whitesell, Ph.D., presented Wilson with his award Thursday morning at the Indiana State Police Annual Awards Ceremony held at the Indiana State Police Post in Indianapolis.
Wilson is a 12-year veteran and primarily patrols the day shift in Warrick County. Wilson concentrated most of his efforts in traffic enforcement in an attempt to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities on roadways throughout the county.
During 2011, Wilson issued 1,692 traffic tickets and 2,331 warnings. Wilson spent nearly 600 hours patrolling SR 66 and SR 261, which are two high crash areas and made over 2,200 traffic stops for various moving violations. He also arrested 75 persons for various criminal offenses.
“Wilson’s all around enforcement efforts and outstanding overall performance during 2011 earned him this award,” said First Sergeant Brian Bailey, Assistant Commander of the Evansville District.
