Update on Warrick County Schools Capital Projects Plan
Warrick County Schools are continuing a three-year Capital Projects Plan. Superintendent Brad Schneider met recently with parent representatives and updated them on various projects. Here's that report:
Recently completed projects:
- Lynnville Elementary (new HVAC, stand along cafeteria, secure two-door entry; wood gym floor will be completed over Spring Break) Note: it took many years, but now all schools have wood floors in the gym, which are safer for children though they are more expensive.
- Tecumseh Jr-Sr High (new tennis courts, new greenhouse, additional parking)
- Cafeterias (three kitchens were equipped with AC though there are more to go)
Ongoing projects :
- District wide technology plan (see above, including 60-70 additional surveillance cameras)
Upcoming projects:
- Chandler and Sharon Elementary (Spring/Summer 2013 – roof replacement, secure two-door entry, room renovations, HVAC replacement)
- Castle High School (phase III, Spring/Summer 2013 – secure two-door entry, renovate old library into new guidance offices and classrooms)
- Tecumseh Middle School (Spring/Summer 2014 – additional classrooms, middle school office, secure two-door entry)
Future projects:
- District Technology Plan (continued)
- Tecumseh Athletic fields (currently located at Lynnville Elementary)
- Oakdale Elementary (roof replacement, secure two-door entry, HVAC)
- J.H.Castle (roof replacement)
- New elementary school (with slowed growth this year, this project is not as urgent – the growth was at the middle school and kindergarten levels; note: there are no current plans for redistricting the Castle middle schools because they are well balanced; however, if a new elementary is built in the district, it would have to be re-evaluated)
- Central Office addition/renovation
