Castle student named Riley Champion

Castle High School student, Cole Barnett has been named as a 2013 Riley Champion Presented by Kroger.

Riley Champions is a program that honors patients from Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health who have inspired communities with their bravery and commitment to help others while overcoming medical challenges.

Local teacher named Peabody Energy Leader in Education

Local teacher named Peabody Energy Leader in Education

Jennifer Meadors of Castle High School was named a Peabody Energy Leader in Education for the 2012-13 school year, and awarded $1,000 for her compassion and commitment to students.

Meadors was chosen for her dedication to helping students with developmental disabilities. As a life-skills teacher, she mentors and guides students to learn how to be independent in everyday life. She earned grants to create a sensory room at her school, which is a therapeutic space designed to calm children who have difficulty responding to environmental stimuli. Meadors is also active throughout the school community and coordinates the peer tutor program.

Lynnville Elementary cafeteria construction nearing completion

Lynnville Elementary cafeteria construction nearing completion

Students and staff at Lynnville Elementary school in Warrick County will soon be able to use a new cafeteria.  Principal Gene Raber says construction on the cafeteria is slated to wrap up around Halloween.  It's been going on since shortly before school let out for the summer.  Right now, students eat lunch in the gym.  Principal Raber says the new addition means they'll be able to utilize the gym for indoor recess. 

Castle coach Doug Hurt named 'Colts Coach of the Week'

Castle coach Doug Hurt named 'Colts Coach of the Week'

Castle’s Doug Hurt has been named the Colts/NFL Coach of the Week, a program presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Hurt was selected after his Knights beat previously unbeaten and Class 2A No. 1 ranked Mater Dei 35-21 on Friday. Castle is off to its’ second straight 8-0 start.

College and Career Fair for students at BHS

College and Career Fair for students at BHS

Boonville High School will host the 2nd Annual College and Career Fair for Students with IEPs on Wednesday, November 28 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the school cafeteria. 

Students with disabilities are encouraged to attend this event to meet with potential employers, law enforcement, local community colleges/universities, industry representatives, and other vendors committed to helping them succeed.
