Calling all athletes age 50 and up

It’s not too late to join in the10th annual Masters Athletic Challenge. This year’s final event—track and field—will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 10 a.m. at Henderson County High School.  Formerly known as the Green River Regional Senior Games, this annual event promotes physical fitness and healthy competition among area residents age 50+.

Competitions will include long jump, high jump, pole vault, discus, shot put and javelin, as well as 100, 200, 400 and 1500 meter dashes and race walking.

Warrick County fills new magistrate post

The Warrick County courts have appointed Jacob Zach Winsett to fill the newly created magistrate position.  The position was created by the Indiana General Assembly during the 2013 legislative session as the result of a Bill authored by State Rep. Ron Bacon, co-authored by State Rep. Suzanne Crouch and sponsored in the Senate by Vanetta Becker.  The position is funded by the State, and the magistrate serves at the discretion of the three Warrick County judges.

Tecumseh wins softball semi-state

This time, there was no doubt.

After winning a 5-4 nine-inning squeaker in the afternoon semi-final against Rising Sun, the Tecumseh softball team pounded Lanesville Monday night in the semi-state championship game at North Daviess.

The 11-2 victory propelled 21-7 Tecumseh into the IHSAA state championship game next Saturday at Ben Davis High in Indianapolis.  They'll face 28-2 Lakewood Park Christian at 9:30 a.m. Central time.

Castle will play at Lucas Oil Stadium next season

The Castle Knights are returning to Lucas Oil Stadium.  14 News has learned that Castle will square off against Terre Haute North as part of an opening weekend doubleheader on August 23.

It’ll be the second game of the night, following Cathedral and Ben Davis.

This isn’t Castle’s first trip to the home of the Indianapolis Colts.  They played New Albany at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2011.

Castle is coming off a 12-1 season in 2012.  

Tecumseh wins regional; off to semi-state

Tecumseh wins regional; off to semi-state

The Tecumseh softball team is heading to semi-state.  They knocked off Barr-Reeve 1-0 Tuesday to move on in the IHSAA Class A tournament.

Tecumseh is now 19-7 and will face Rising Sun, which shut out Edinburgh 11-0 in five innings to win their regional.

Saturday's semi-state semi-final game is at North Daviess.

Boonville holds off Pike Central to earn regional title

 

The Boonville softball team is heading to semi-state.  The Pioneers held off Pike Central 1-0 on their home field Tuesday night.

Bayli Ewin drove in the winning run in the sixth.  Freshman Jordyn Buxton tossed a one-hitter.

After starting the season with a 7-12 record, the Pioneers are regional champs.  They’ll take on 26-2 Lebanon in Jasper Saturday afternoon.

Newburgh Tumbling team members qualify for national competition

 

Newburgh Tumbling's Trampoline and Tumbling team competed in the USAG Region IV Championships this past weekend.  With 12 states represented, the local team came home with four regional champions: Bree, Kayla, Audrey, and Fallon.

Several team members pictured above qualified for Nationals which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri in July.
