Archery tournament at Castle Saturday | Sports & Recreation
Title (Max 100 Characters)
For many archers the Castle Knight Flight Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, February 16 at Castle North Middle School, will be their last opportunity to gain tournament experience before they compete at the State Archery Tournament in March.
More than ten schools will be sending teams to participate in the Castle tournament. Flights will begin at 8 A.M. and continue hourly until all archers have finished. This year, a special 3-D target shoot will be available in addition to several raffles to raise funds for the Castle Archery Club. An award ceremony will follow the competition.
Defending State Champion Castle High School has won six over-all state archery championships and has qualified two, 25 member teams for state this year at Muncie to be held on March 1. Over the past several practices, Coach Zwilling has not only been focused on his athletes’ technique and adherence to safety rules but also on managing their time. At state, because of the number of participants, archers are limited to only two minutes for each set of five arrows.
Castle’s Knight Flight will open at 7:30 A.M. with a $5 fee per archer, $3 for adults, and $2 for children (children under 5 are free). Food and drink are available at the concession stand as well as an assortment of baked goods.
