Governor Mitch Daniels today joined State Senator Vaneta Becker, State Representative Suzanne Crouch and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) officials for a ceremonial ground breaking event on the State Road 261 Major Moves expansion project in Warrick County. 

The $12.1 million dollar project includes upgrading S.R.

Boonville wants railroad to fix track issue permanently

The city of Boonville wants Norfolk-Southern train officials to fix rough tracks on South 2nd Street.

Mayor Pam Hendrickson says the tracks there have caused a problem for several months.

She says railroad workers have been out to do patchwork at least three times but she says it's not helping and now they need a more permanent solution.

The mayor says many drivers who are familiar with the rough tracks are now driving on the other side of the tracks into oncoming traffic, posing a dangerous driving situation.

"It's quite uncomfortable,” she said.&

Beginning July 1, it will be illegal for any Hoosier driver to text while behind the wheel.

Earlier this month, Governor Mitch Daniels signed legislation that prohibits the use of any telecommunications device to type, transmit, or read text messages or e-mail while operating a moving motor vehicle.
