Students from St. John School in Newburgh collected about 4,000 pounds of canned goods and donated them to the Newburgh Food Pantry.
Over 300 students spent about two weeks collecting the cans to help needy families in the area.
The SJS Character Education program sponsored the event. Each student received a foot of duct tape when they brought in two canned items. Then, they voted on which teacher they’d like to duct tape to the cafeteria wall. The “winner” was Mrs. Whoerter and during the lunch period, she found herself under attack—all in good fun and for a great cause.
